Once the ceramic shell has completely dried, we then de-wax the shell using a propane burner, to melt out the wax - this wax leaves behind a detailed impression or negative of the sculpture in this shell,  - which is effectively a new 'mould' that the bronze will then flow into, to achieve the casting - this is where the term "lost wax" originates.
