Captain Mainwaring

Sean Hedges-Quinn copy

Bronze Age Foundry is proud to have  cast this remarkable sculpture of Captain Mainwaring, of Dad’s Army fame for  artist Sean Hedges-Quinn.

The sculpture was unveiled at Thetford on Saturday the 19th of June following a three year campaign by members of the Dad’s Army Museum to mark the years between 1968 and 1977, during which the sitcom was filmed in the town.

Bill Pertwee (Warden Hodges) joined David Croft the writer of the 78 episodes, in  unveiling the sculpture - commenting that he thought the statue was “absolutely marvellous” and was a “frightening” likeness of the captain.

The sculpture will become a centrepiece of Thetford’s popular Dad’s Army tours.
