Born in Zambia, then brought up and educated
in New Zealand, space, freedom and nature fed
Mark Kennedy's desire to sculpt from an early age.
The lanscapes and fauna surrounding him
inspired first sculptures of animals
and then his admiration for classical sculpture
led him towards figurative work of the human body.

It was in New Zealand
where Mark first learnt about bronze casting,
which enabled him to cast his own first bronzes.
He has travelled widely, through Africa, USA, the Antipodes
and Europe. Mark has been living in the UK for over 15 years,
where in 1989 he set up and now runs a successful bronze casting foundry in East London - the heart of artistic activity
with more artists per square mile
than anywhere else in the city.
Being highly skilled in all aspects of bronze casting,
Kennedy casts and patinates (colours) his own pieces,
keeping artistic control throughout the entire process.

He lives in East London with his wife and two children.
